Tour Tips for Clients in Shanghai
1. It is very convenient for you to come
to the Yellow Mountain all year round, either
by air, train and bus. For a short tour
to a natural scene, you are probably most
concerned about the weather. However, we
can help you adjust your itinerary, in case
of a bad weather, such as visiting a Ming
village first, where you can enter an ancient
courtyard to have a glimpse of the elegance
of the local old houses and have a free
chat with the descendants of the house builder.
Also you can enjoy an authentic local cuisine,
either under the tree in the courtyard or
in an ancient house, before you leave for
the mountain tour.
2. Weekend tour here is always overbooked,
so hotel reservation on the top is the priority,
and then you can consider your transportation
means: flight tickets, or train sleeper.
There are two flights coming to Huangshan
every evening. The night train (N518) leaves
Shanghai at 22:00 every night and arrives
here at 08:50 the next day morning. If you
enjoy the field scenes in southern China,
less than 6 hours’ air-conditioned shuttle
bus service is available from Meilong (opposite
to Jinjiang Paradise). Start time 07:30,
and arrival before 14:00 at Huangshan downtown.
You can call the ticket booking office directly
13855986018, Mr. An, if you can speak a
little Chinese. If you want to make sure
the hotel reservation on the top, just call
my office 0559-2515944 at work time and
you will get the result in a minute.
3. The room rates on the top are almost
the same, especially for a standard room
with a private bath. If you have a tight
budget, and just want an over-night in a
simple hotel, we can offer you 8-shared
room with 4 bunk beds and a private both.
And we can also book you hard sleepers if
you inform us 3 days before your arrival
here. Remember that the bed rate at weekend
is almost doubled and often overbooked,
so try to avoid your Yellow Mountain tour
on Saturday and you will find much fewer
tourists on the top during weekdays.
4. If you want to retreat from the hustle
& bustle life in Shanghai for a couple
of days, and avoid the compacted passengers
on the cable car, we suggest you hike onto
the top along a deserted trail from behind
the mountain, 3 hours up journey to the
top. Your hotel will wait for your check-in
as soon as you set your foot on the top.
For the 3 hours’ hiking upward, there are
no tourists on the path; you might occasionally
meet with a few porters walking down home
after their burden relief on the top. To
some extent, the whole mountain is yours;
you are submerged by greenness and coolness,
with a crystal-clear brook running from
the top and you will find the vertical distribution
of vegetation on both sides of the path.
It is so quiet that you can only hear your
own breath, the rill murmurings and bird
twittering not afar.
We can also offer you a tailor-made tour
route according to your interests and time
limit, such as a trip to Wuyuan and Jingdezhen
after your mountain hiking.
Wuyuan, a neighboring county in Jiangxi
Province, is boasted to have the most beautiful
villages in China, with less population
and sparser traffic. The Ming-styled white
houses are scattered on the lush green hills
along the highway and water buffalos are
resting in the rice fields. It only takes
two hours to reach Xiaoqi, a quite ancient
village, after getting down from the mountain,
which is really worth a visit.
Jingdezhen, a well-known city for its porcelain
production in Chinese history, is only 3
hours’ drive journey from Huangshan downtown,
with the largest porcelain museum in China,
where you can go to visit the ancient porcelain
kilns and watch craftsmanship of vase-making
process.
The suggested tour route is Huangshan—Wuyuan---Jingdezhen
and back to Huangshan airport. 3--4 nights’
tour or vice versa.
