Shanghai
One-day Tour for New Comers
You can have a relaxing tour wherever
you go in Shanghai, such as Yu Garden, Jade
Buddha Temple or the Bund.
You can start from the Bund areas where
you can have a stroll and take some photos
of modern Shanghai, then you can walk to
Yu Garden, a very traditional Chinese garden
where you can find many Ming and Qing styled
houses and a beautiful pond inside. After
that I suggest you have a window shopping
tour at Town God Temple Market where you
can find varieties of typical Chinese commodities.
The snacks there are numerous and delicious.
You can either eat in a clean eatery or
a big restaurant. In the afternoon you can
take a cab to go to Jade Buddha Temple with
its priceless collection of jade statues
from Burma for a short visit, which is also
located at downtown not far away from Nanking
Road. All depends on your interest, whether
you prefer culture tour or city tour. Late
in the afternoon you can to Huaihai Road,
the former French Concession District, where
there are hundreds of flag shops of well-known
brands. Finally, you’ll be able to stretch
your legs in Shanghai’s hottest new entertainment
district, Xin Tian Di. The brick buildings
on these two-square blocks have been preserved
and transformed into trendy c lubs,
restaurants and boutiques. You will have
time on your own here, or can go back to
your hotel with the group.
Back-street Tour at Shanghai Downtown
You can find many common daily scenes of
this metropolis if you go off the main shopping
street and enter the residential areas where
you can see a panorama of the local residents.
The following is some scenes of the back-streets.
Hope you can have an adventure to explore
more.

Temple of Jade Buddha
The Yufo (Jade Buddha) Temple was built
in 1882 but after all those years it remains
in perfect condition as a sanctuary of Zen
Buddhism. The temple derived its name from
a jade statue of Sakyamuni from Myanmar.
The image of the Buddha, his graceful posture,
and the serene and calm look on his face
are, to put it just in one word, mesmerizing
Shanghai City Planning Exhibition Hall
is located in the east of the City Hall.
On top of the building are 4 giant steel
caps, symbolizing the city flower- the magnolia.
The steel caps glitter in the sunlight,
offsetting the crystal palace-like Grand
Theater by its side. The building is 43.3-m
high, with 5 stories above ground and 2
stories underground and a total floor space
of
18,393-sq.m. The City Planning Exhibition
Hall is available for citizens to comprehend
the changes in the city and its future planning.
It also gives an introduction to visitors
to Shanghai the planning and construction
of the city. It has set Shanghai's image
as an international metropolis open to the
outside world.
Yuyuan Garden & Bazar
The Yuyuan Garden on the road of the same
name in downtown is perhaps the best example
of classical gardens of Shanghai. Built
in 1559, or the 38th year of the Jiaqing
reign of the Ming, the garden is laid out
in an intricate manner, with buildings out
in an intricate manner, with buildings spaced
providently and courtyards mutually containing,
and all the components of the complex are
cunningly grouped to camouflage a rather
camped space. As a paragon of the south
Chinese landscaping style of the Ming and
Qing Dynasties, it is a MUST for all visitors
to Shanghai. The neighboring Yuyuan Bazaar,
known among old-timers as
"Old City God's Temple Market",
is a rising tourist and shopping center
where visitors loitering among a cluster
of shops, restaurants and recreation facilities
invariably find themselves making a tour
of discovery of local folklore and Ming
and Qing architecture.
Pudong New Area
The new area was established in April 1990.
It has a total area of 523 square km. It
consists of 4 smaller key areas: the Lujiazui
Finance and Trade Zone, the Jinqiao Export
Processing Zone, the Waigaoqiao Bonded Zone,
and the Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park Zone. Pudong
New Area has become a new hot spot for investment
in China.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower
The "Oriental Pearl" TV Tower
is a new landmark of Shanghai which faces
the Bund across the Huangpu River at Lujiazui,
the busiest part of Pudong new Area. At
a height of 468 meters, it is the tallest
TV tower in Asia. An elevator whisks visitors
to the tower's observational deck at a height
of 263 meters, where they can feast their
eyes on a panoramic view of Shanghai. The
tower is equipped with tourist service facilities,
including eateries, shops, recreational
including eateries, shops, recreational
