Mt. Qiyun
Literally known as cloud hill, Mt. Qiyun is
located near Yanqian Town, less than 20 kilometers
west of Huangshan City,
Anhui Province. In Chinese, Qiyun literally
means "as equal high as the clouds".
Although not as famous as Mt. Huangshan in
Anhui, Mt.Qiyun is unique for Taoist culture,
besides its beautiful natural scenery, rich
culture, and especially geological structure.
Much has been done to preserve the Taoist
culture on the mountain top so as to attract
more visitors and pilgrims. With a maximum
elevation of 585 meters above sea level, Qiyun
Mountain has been designated a national forest
park. This area is divided into four scenic
parts, namely Yuehua Street on the top, Hill
connecting Hill, Mystery Cave, and Hengjiang
River at the foot of the mountain. There are
plenty of tablet i nscriptions
and stone inscriptions on top of Qiyun Mountain.
Among them, the inscriptions "heavenly
magical beauty", "marvelous prominent
peak" and "wonder from time immemorial"
are so grand that they are praised by the
local as the most treasured historic relics
at Huangshan city.
If you have a chance to come to Huangshan,
you can have a trekking over Qiyun Mountain
so as to avoid the crowds on the top of Huangshan
Mountain.
